March Updates from Manzanita Home and Flowers

3/29/2020

Hello to all who may read this!  It has been a long seven weeks since I last wrote on our shop's blog and a what strange time it has become!

Manzanita has been closed to walk-in customers since March 21st due to Oregon's governor's request to "Stay home and Stay healthy".  I had to lay off my wonderful staff a few days before that. I hope it won't be too long before I can have them back to work, but this virus has it's own timeline!  I have been taking orders for flower deliveries by phone from home (shop number is forwarded to my cell) and have connected with customers who are wanting to send loved ones some cheer, to celebrate birthdays, and offer get well wishes. It has been a pleasure to make my "no contact" deliveries as I wait until I see them pick up their flowers that I left on their porch, and their smiles warm my heart!

I am also warmed by the comments of concern and encouragement I hear from customers who call for flowers, and from friends I see at a distance, by text or phone call,  or on Zoom Happy Hour!

Our town is getting a double whammy with the ordered closure of businesses due to the virus as well as the announcement of our beloved Oregon Shakespeare Festival who has suspended it's spring and summer season of plays until September 8th.
This means a hardship on Ashland's small business community of retail shops, restaurants, and bed and breakfast establishments. We all have a challenging 5 months ahead of us without the thousands of visitors and playgoers OSF brings to Ashland. We are putting our hope and faith in our belief that Ashland and Southern Oregon offer a beautiful and diverse vacation destination for wine tasting, river rafting, mountain biking, and just plain relaxation.
Our shop, Manzanita Home and Flowers, is ready and waiting with a beautifully curated selection of items perfect for accenting your home, or for wedding gifts, birthday surprises, or special gift for someone just because you love them!

Please stop in and say hi as soon as you hear that downtown Ashland is up and running again! We are located on the plaza between our neighbors, Mix Bakeshop and Greenleaf Restaurant. In the meantime, if you would like to send flowers in Ashland or Talent to someone who needs cheer or an expression of your love, please call me at 541-488-1588 and I will be thrilled to design your bouquet with the same care and passion as always!

Valentine's Day

Here it is February 2020! We have been busy bees at Manzanita Home and Flowers so far this year resetting the shop with some new displays and merchandise and filling flower orders to brighten up the grey month of January. And as we are now approaching the busy Valentine's Day, February 14th, we are making sure we are ready for a crazy busy week! This year Valentine's Day falls on a Friday. Orders are already coming in, and several of our customers are choosing to order flowers for delivery earlier in the week to beat the rush. But most of our orders are delivered on the 13th and 14th. It is a wild and wonderful rush of organized chaos at our florist shop.

We deliver flowers and chocolates to both home and offices in Ashland and Talent, and it is always especially fun to deliver flowers to recipients at their offices and workplaces! Our beautifully designed bouquets get oooh and ahhh from their co-workers and they beam with pride as they accept the flowers! But if you are one who likes to present your sweetheart with flowers in person, we will be delighted to help you choose the right bouquet or vase arrangement. We will have several Valentine's arrangements already made and waiting for you to choose from. We will have red roses, of course, but also several other colors of roses, and also a large variety of exotic and spring flowers for those of you who like to go beyond the traditional rose bouquet!
In the meantime, if you find yourself close to our flower shop on the plaza in Ashland, maybe going to get a yummy treat from our neighbor, Mix Sweetshop, our checking our our other neighbor, Greenleaf's new remodel, please stop in and say hi! We have some great new items in our gift shop, and it's always nice to choose some spring flowers in the middle of winter to take home and enjoy for yourself!
Happy Valentine's Day!

My staff and I at Manzanita Home and Flowers have been Santa's helpers for the past few weeks, and soon Christmas will be here! We are now busy designing and delivering floral gifts of Christmas centerpieces, Hannukah celebrations, buffet arrangements, party decor, and....Yes!....our Ashland and Talent residents are still celebrating birthdays and anniversaries! And that is just our flower department.

We have the most wonderful customers imaginable! Every day we get the privilege of interacting with our Rogue Valley shoppers who seek us out here in downtown Ashland for holiday decorations and unique gifts. We try to make your experience at Manzanita a fun and satisfying one, and with customers like ours, it is easy to do!

I wish all of you a happy holiday filled with comfort, love, and laughter. Please stop in and say hello whenever you are near our shop on the plaza!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support!

My name is LouAnn David. I have been a florist, visual merchandiser and shop owner here in Ashland since 1982. I began my floral career at age 18 in my hometown of El Dorado, Kansas, 10 years before I moved to Oregon.

Some of you may know us as Flower Tyme which was the name of our shop until 2017 when I changed the name to more fully represent our shop. I have seen many changes in the flower and decor business during these many years....style of floral design, varieties of flowers on the market, and I have followed many trends in home decor.

My goal has been to remain current in trends while keeping my commitment to quality of flowers and merchandise that my shop offers.  This blog will help to inform my dear customers of the latest in floral and home decor trends, fun tips on flower arranging, and tell about fun happenings that occur in a flower shop environment. I will let you know about exciting new merchandise when it arrives in the shop.

Currently, Manzanita is brimming with decor and ornaments to help you bring holiday cheer to your home or office as well as many gift ideas you will not find in the big box stores.  We welcome area residents to visit our shop and experience the scent of fresh flowers, the marvel of crystalline Campbell pottery, and the sparkle and magic of Christmas during this month of December!

If you are reading this from far away....maybe you found our website by ordering a flower delivery for a loved one who lives here in Ashland. We hope you find some enjoyment in viewing the shop through our camera's lens. We will be adding photos regularly so you can see first hand what we're currently up to!
